Went shopping in Birmingham last Saturday. Met eldest son and lady friend in Weatherspoons on Bennetts Hill. All very crowded with young people. A couple of friends were there plus youngest son's partner. Had a very nice cheese and pickle sandwich with a cup of tea. Then walked round the German Market which had lots of food outlets. It was very cold and I didn't buy anything. Then went to buy a new board game in Marks and Spencer called Blockbuster which was the old TV game from years ago. Hope to play it over Xmas. Went to come home on the bus.....very cold......traffic made the journey take an hour and a half!!!!!!!!! not good

Tea Dance

We went to West Bromwich Town Hall on Thursday to a Tea Dance. This was run by the Greets Green Partnership an initiative within the N.H.S.
The hall was warm and set out with tables each covered with a buffet lunch enough for eight people. The staff were extremely welcoming and we felt right at home.
Music was provided for sequence and line dancing by a local dance teacher and many people took to the floor.
With a very welcome cup of tea we enjoyed the buffet and the chat with the people on our table.
During the afternoon we were entertained by children from Guns Village Primary School who sang a selection of seasonal songs with great confidence
There was a free raffle.....didn't win......and the attendance by a good crowd made a friendly atmosphere.
We heard that the dances are to be held every month from now on so we will be there!!!
A very enjoyable afternoon. An excellent community event.

Carol Concert

Last Saturday we went to West Bromwich Town Hall to the Carol Concert. After being surprised at the queue to get in we found upstairs to be quite full and spent some time finding a seat with a good view. The concert was very good with a superb brass band, male voice choir and a solo soprano. There was also a Black Country speaker and Mike Wyre introduced events. A rather large crush for refreshments prevented us from having a mince pie but we had emergency rations. It was a great evening with rousing music and a chance to sing some carols.

Went to Waitrose today for the first time.....quite impressed with their vatiety of different and unusual products. Still I think it will still be Morrisons for the everyday things!!!!
Booked to go to the Sandwell College catering department restaurant next month with two friends.These college restaurants are very good value for money and of course good training for the students so we are looking forward to it.
My son has made my laptop much faster I am happy to say. I am on wireless and have a printer that should work wireless but try as we might we cannot get it to. very frustrating! These things are meant to be easy but not always I feel. Technology develops too fast for us silver surfers.

Still trying

still new to this blogging!!!! Today went on our usual walk with Sandwell Stride for health. It was a nice frosty morning and lots of people turned out. Many friends from U3A so we had a good chat.
Was line dancing last night so lots of physical activity left me shattered ...hence the long nap this afternoon. Have just watched last night's Eastenders.....it has been very violent of late which I don't like.

today I was able to set up this blog with the help of Steve at our U3A computer group. It was very interesting to a novice user such as me and I hope to get much better at it.
